An Actor's HeadShot is a photographic
technique where the focus of the photograph is a person’s
face. A headshot is front on (facing straight at the camera)
photograph, with the face being the center of the picture
and containing a plain background. Headshots are not usually
used for artistic purposes, rather as a method to show physical
characteristics and their name. Models often include a headshot,
along with other photographs, when applying for a print job.

at many levels of the entertainment industry. See About

and worked with very well-known Actors, Models, Celebrities,
Musical talents, their agents and their managers including
major Hollywood Studios. He has over the years mentored many
fledgling models and actors. One of the major problems he
see’s is that these new actors or models are confronted
with is the subject of a headshot.
When the discussion of a
Headshot is brought up, there appears to be quite a bit of
confusion and misconception. There is also a lack of knowledge
about how they are to use these headshots when marketing themselves
until they are signed by an agent who takes control of their
career. Therefore; below, is a description pertaining to the
use and layout of the headshot. This description is generic
but it applies to the industry on a broad level. Every Actor
or model must know this information if they're going to succeed
in their marketing efforts.
Today headshots are some
of the most misunderstood marketing elements used by actors
or models. In the desire to be different, to be noticed and
to stand out, talents are presenting headshots that do them
an injustice. In the past before the digital revolution, headshots
(Glossies) were reserved for the Hollywood studio Actors.
They were for information purposes and passed around by their
agents for studio consideration in order to achieve a role
in a feature film. These headshots were rarely seen by the
public.

Relation shots”.
